CONCIERTOS El rock neoyorquino está basado en bandas de guitarristas blancos aunque últimamente el hip-hop, funk, jazz y rap han ido integrandose a la cultura musical de la ciudad. Como alternativa se encuentran las bandas extranjeras, especialmente las britanicas, quienes llegan a New York en busca de la conquista del país. Frecuentemente uno tiene la oportunidad de observar a estas bandas en pequeños clubs a un costo mínimo. Los costos hacen que muchas bandas sean forzadas a trasladarse fuera de Manhattan e instalarse en los otros distritos o mismo en New Jersey; aunque la escena continua en Manhattan el centro se ha tornado más difuso. Hay muchas bandas tocando en lugares como Hoboken, New Jersey, concentrado en Maxwell's; rap y hip-hop, mas acid jazz, house y jungle, suenan en los clubs; y en Brooklyn y Queens, grandes colonias Latino/Sudamericanas proporcionan eventos fuera de los circuitos turísticos. En Manhattan, mucha de la energia es proporcionada por bares y boliches ubicados en East Village, Chelsea y TriBeCa. |
